  1. This is not a perfect solve, but set up Word Filters for keywords. Also: - Prepare and warn your moderator team. They can mark users as Spam. - Change your registration and security challenges (especially hcaptcha to the highest setting) - Drink lots of alcohol 🥃 I dealt with the spam wave back in October: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/474157-site-being-overun-by-spammers/?do=findComment&comment=2956377
  2. 5. This won't make sense to anyone except IPS people, but IPS considers Clubs to be part of the Core application, which is available for everyone. Core also includes Status Updates, Messenger, Community Hive, and other foundational features. 1. You're getting all of the applications, except for Courses. You also won't have access to cloud-specific features like Live Topics, Community Experts, etc. But the basic applications themselves, such as forums and galleries and blogs, will be fine. For people who are new to the IPS ecosystem, the app that I would point you to is the Pages app, which is the most complex but also the most powerful.
  3. Someone from IPS should confirm my interpretation but you only need to create new forums where you want different experts. Experts are assigned to forums. Different forums means you can assign different experts. If you plan on having the same set of community experts, then you can build your forums any way you want. If you plan on having community experts that specialize in different areas (eg. Product support vs ideation), then you will need at least two separate boards.
  4. Cover photos in IPS are tricky, because as Marc has pointed out, the cover photos are responsive and will stretch depending on the size of your window. In all the years that I've seen people struggle (myself included), the best ones that I've seen are where you have a repeating pattern which work regardless of the dimensions. The cover photos where you have one large focal point will always be either too small or too large.
  5. 1. I'm giggling at the cleverness of humanity to continue to find creative new ways to be an @$$ to other members. 2. You may want to investigate some member group settings. For example, you can restrict members from deleting their own personal messages. This does pose other consequences, such as accruing a lifetimes worth of personal messages.
  6. It still ties into the Our Picks widget, Our Picks page, and Our Picks on emails. There is no more social media promotion, but there is a lot tied to the community outreach.
  7. On an additional note, I should add that IPS designed Our Picks / Promotion to be used in a very particular way. Our Picks / Promotion is not meant to be an automated promotion or an RSS feed or a widget of all latest content. We have those already! It's meant to be human curated, which means human selection of content and human-written content. IPS includes the original content as a source of reference. And the actual snippet used in the promotion is designed for you to human summarize the linked content.
  8. Just delete or remove enough characters, and then you will be able to post. You are able to edit or type in that box. This happens to me all of the time. I either truncate the content or override all of the content with my own quick summary.
  9. A user on my community brought this to my attention. I think this may be intended behavior by Google chrome, but should be something reviewed for an overlay by IPS WebP images open in a new tab, and are not scrollable like JPG Sample topic:
  10. 1. When you do a move of your file storage, start with the smallest bucket in case anything goes wrong and the files get corrupted (eg. Blog covers). Theoretically, the transfer of file storage is a relatively easy move. You simply change the file storage for whatever file type, and the system will download the files from the old location and then reupload to the new location. This is not a fast process. 2. IPS only supports S3, they do not officially support S3 compatible. You may potentially encounter issues when using S3 compatible when downloading attachments. Search for Wasabi to see discussions related to that storage method. 3. S3 or S3 storage is cheap. Bandwidth is not cheap. Make sure you evaluate the total cost.
  11. Send a PM to @All Astronauts If he has time to poke around in IC5 Alpha, he has time to send you his S3 workbench.
  12. Interesting. Okay. I did add a WAF rule in Cloudflare, not aware of any changes that I made to my installation on the software side. At least this gives me a starting point to investigate.
  13. This is not on the Invisioneer website, this is on my other website
  14. Hi, I'm not sure what's going on with my registration. On the registration form, the Security check is showing a blank area. Users are being blocked from creating a new account, even after entering the Q&A challenge questions and other required fields. After you attempt to register: I've self-audited the hCaptcha security sitekey and secret, they look fine. Please advise
  15. Hi, I'm at a point in my community's maturity where I spend more time in the community ACP than the front-end investigating membership issues, checking saved reports, or auditing permissions. This is a minor suggestion but I think it would offer a huge efficiency improvement for admins who are short-on-time and big-on-problems (ha): to offer a recent search history from the ACP search bar. It could capture the last several searches or clickthroughs from the ACP search, such as: Member emails Member usernames Settings Reports, etc.
  16. Be aware that you can define certain forums boards to be Question and Answer. This will change the templating of the section into a primary post and other comments that can be voted up and down and marked as the answer.
  17. Hi Chris, Your forum structure is doable out of the box using native functionality. The difference between 1 and 1A is how much complexity of forum boards you want to present. For your requested use case, choice 1 is appropriate (and recommended) to keep things simple. Choice 1A will only make sense once you're ready to grow and start offering multiple discussion boards per topic (eg. Internet Marketing forum where you offer 5 discussion boards covering Content marketing, Affiliate marketing, Influencer Marketing, etc). Given the simplicity of your board and the emphasis between free versus premium content, there are some native features you can really tap in to. - Forum colors and forum covers: you can use this to easily differentiate between free and premium discussions. - Our Picks: you can use this to promote and highlight snippets of premium discussions that will appear on your emails and widgets. - Make sure to audit the "no permission" error messages and change the language string to something friendlier, such as a call to action to upgrade.
  18. 1. Will Clubs show the Page that contains the database category, or only the Database itself. The Page that contains the database often contains elements like filters or custom widgets. Whereas the Database is, well, just the database template. 2. Show Club Content Areas - This setting is all or nothing to all content areas in all clubs. This is an overly broad setting. I can see how admins may want to show club Pages database in the Pages database, but perhaps not at all club nodes (or vice versa). 3. News - This is more of an observation, but it's clear that the overwhelming common usage - albeit not the only one - is simply the need for News. IPS may want to think about shipping a simple News function for clubs. I have several clubs where the owners have used Blogs for several years now as a news system. 4. Search - Will members who don't have permission see search results, profile activity, and / or activity stream from club database fields? 5. Choice of Databases - Will admins be able to choose which databases can be displayed in clubs, or is it all or nothing? I like the concept of integrating Database categories into Pages and its giving me some food for thought of building some foundational databases that any of my 40+ clubs can use.
  19. My skill level only goes up to Microsoft paint ha (Nominating this for Invision Community 5 new theme)
  20. Is there a way to check for that in the images metadata (like on Windows, when I view on image properties?) I know this photoset is unusual from most other images posted to my website that are usually reposts from elsewhere on the web. These photos came directly from a photographer. Thanks, will reply back with more details.
  21. Hi, I like the concept of Alerts, but I find myself sending out the same Alerts over and over again. I'd like to suggest the ability to predefine Alerts, so I can quickly choose from a dropdown list.
  22. Hi IPS Support, One of my users reported that a JPG photo uploaded to the Forums becomes very saturated. He sent a ZIP of the photos and I tested it myself by uploading the same JPG photo to a test forum tpoic. I can confirm that the JPG does get saturated when uploaded. When I uploaded other random photos, they were not saturated. Link to topic can be privately provided due to personal content. Please advise
  23. Here's the news blog on Alerts: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/introducing-the-alert-system-r1254/
  24. FYI just in case you're not aware, Invision Community offers a feature Saved Actions for the Forums. It's basically predefined 'moderator rules' and can be quite powerful. You can also define Alerts in advance, which I find to be useful if you're giving the same information (either positive or negative) to users.
