  1. My point was not that there are bugs. I have obviously used RCs live before so I am not scared of some bugs being present. professor, I have perpetuals. brandon d, most of those nos need to be changed to yeses. :P Yes the top link does go to adifferent url and yes it takes too long for something as simple as going to the top of the page. Everybody is missing my point. Actually I am too tired to remember my own point anyway. lol
  2. Well it doesn't seem as far along as it should be this long after beta 4. And even if beta 5 is released soon, look at how many bugs are still in it! So it would guarantee too many bugs being in RC1 or it would mean a beta 6 and if there's a sixth beta that's just kind of ridiculous because not only would there have already been 5 other betas, but each one was tested much longer than these used to be tested for IPB. I mentioned the skin bugs seemingly rarely addressed and even since I said that not even 1/3 of those remaining ones have eben fixed in weeks since that point. Sigh. In this topic it has a JS error saying console is undefined. I don't feel like reporting it because I noticed another JS bug report was made so I will just guess it was this one and not read it. Also, I personally liked the edit button brining up the quick or full edit dropdown. It just made it different than vb and was smoothly done. Now it's just like vb which is annoying. And as far as the comment that they don't base their features on other software, but on popilar requests.... said themsevles asking for the up link back has been "done to death" and they said no way they are adding it back. And the top link they do have goes to a different page rather than using an anchor tag or javascript! So it takes as long to load a topic to simply go to the top of the current page. What sense does that make?
  3. I was noticing on my city's newspaper's site they have the current section you're in as a highlighted tab like IPB 3 has for its apps. But then below it they have another line which has links related to the section you're in. That would be nice to have. Have it where some setting in your app is set to 0 or 1 as to whether you need that extra line for links. Sure would help me make my apps look nicer if I didn't have to make my own link bar in the app itself. I'm not sure how it would look with this setup though. In my opinion it looks great on their site. They have a light color for the other apps, darkish blue for the tab you're active in and then that horizontal line of links below it is also the same color as the tab. To me it looks very nice on that site. Also in some cases on other pages when you hover over a link it has a very cool method for the dropdown. It kind of slides and the links in the dropdown are a horizontal row rather than vertical. The only dropdown type I know of in IPB 3 is acting very weird for me as it always opens upward for some reason.
  4. I haven't tried that on vb sites, but that sounds interesting. I think the answer as far as IPB is no though.
  5. If you are on staff, thanks for the info. If not, it doesn't mean much because bfarner has said before just because it is listed in the bug tracker doesn't mean a version will be called that and also the original plan was to release beta 5 almost immediately after beta 4 (and I believe he even said back then they hadn't planned on even having a beta 5). So since they have instead taken more time before releasing anything else, my guess is RC1. Or really my "guess" is beta 5, but I wouldn't be shocked at RC1. edit: I'll sure be glad when something comes out because I am still using beta 3 since I figured no point uploading beta 4 files and going through that whole process just to have bugs and then have the next release come out right after I do it. But on this live board the edit button still doesn't bring up the menu for quick edit in IE 8... so I hope they fix that before they release anything.
  6. I'm interested in all of this too in case I ever sell anything. As far as paypal, that's ok to use although recently some people posted on another site that this scammer took his funds out and paypal can't do anything to scammed people if the scammer's funds are empty.
  7. Me too, if they have a beta 5. Although I was sure it would be out last week also. lol It comes down to when the skinners have time to fix skin issues I would think because there aren't too many bugs unrelated to skin left. Edit, by the way... anyone notice gmail still says beta after these years of it being in existence? lol
  8. By the way I just meant to state my guess on the part of that related to how many betas and RCs. I personally think there will be nothing past beta 5 and I even have a feeling they could skip beta 5 and go to RC 1. Doubt it though, but surely there won't be a beta 6.
  9. I think just for this site they added a few changes but not in the beta download.
  10. No it's not untestable, but now I've gne this long not installing beta 4, so there's no point now. I'm sure now it truly would be a short turnaround. A lot of things I reported were happening on thissite though, so it was technically beta 4 anyway.
  11. Personally there isn't much I can think of for skin changes other than color changes which obviously are going to be left to people to modify rather than the default. I personally don't like the way the board stats is. That's my main dislike with the skin other than not personally liking the general colors too much. I like profile view a lot. I like most other areas as far as skinning also. Oh and personally I think something should be done to make personal conversations look different than topics. (more different, anyway). Not too much else. Maybe a thinner left side in topic view (where the avatar and info is).
  12. Yes and this has been a very long beta process which is winding down. There are 3 bugs on the public side. Three. But we have to keep waiting due to skin issues piling up more and more each day. I don't care really, but someone whined that I shouldn't be testing beta 3 and should be testing beta 4. Well bfarber hinted that beta 4 could be skipped because beta 5 was going to be unusually quick and it hasn't been.... it's been 2 weeks and I think there were only 3 weeks or less between 3 and 4. So it's fine with me. I'm just saying I am not going to install beta 4, so my bug reports will continue to be beta 3 ones and it's not my fault. They wouldn't refresh beta 4 to fix a couple nasty bugs. I hope the IE8 edit bug has eben fixed. It sure is still there on this live site where I can't quick edit. I assume in compatibility mode it would work, but I am trying to not use that. As for the CSS, how would we not have to change the HTML if he keeps the class, but doesn't use it? It would mean we have to go and edit all of the html adding in class='maintitle'. Or if you meant he is keeping the html saying the class name, I certainly would hope he would simply comment out the CSS line where it's as simple as undoing that which would take 2 seconds and then it be back.
  13. As far as my last comment, I just realized they have the collapsable icon aligned right so I guess they have the class where things can be aligned that way. Anyway yeah, I program some, making IPB modifications and skinning is the one area I am worst at so I usually use IPB classes as they already are. But I'm going to start reading about what can be done via CSS where I can then get thigns how I want, whether it be my site or modifications.
  14. Well on topic index I would change the marking to a button to the right or left of the name or make a link aligned to the right. But I tried aligning something to the right in that class befoe and it doesn't work, so i don't know. Inside topics they could also just place the subtitle somewhere else. Although it doesn't look so horrible to have it like it is.
  15. Why are there so many times skinning issues sit there for a long time without being fixed? It's down to only 8 confirmed bugs in the coding, yet over 30 skin bugs and it seems like a week can go by without much done there. In one of the bug reports bfarber mentioned that the turnaround between beta 4 and beta 5 would be much quicker than between beta 3 and beta 4, but it's already been right around 2 weeks and still won't be RC.
