  1. Ah ? No. IP.Shoutbox is not an official release as IPS never worked on it. Hmm, and personally I haven't had any problems installing any addons, including IP.Shoutbox. Everything so far worked right out of box.
  2. Yep, works at times and doesn't at time. I uninstalled it for now. Too unstable for even beta testing. It's more like alpha testing.
  3. One huge advantage of hosting the chat by IPS is that pirated borads won't be able to use the chat.
  4. I also operate a dedicated server. Having tried various chat scripts over the years, I wouldn't host my own chat script on my server for both security issues and load issue.
  5. Wasn't CCS (IP.C) originated from Nexus ?

    IPB vs. vBulletin

Meh, just release IPC (Gee, that sounded really weird. "I pee, see...") 1.1.

    IPB vs. vBulletin

That's why I said, "Though some of really important and much-needed Vb mod features are built right in IPB as official features." But, yes, IPB3 does have a lot of features that can only be done as mods in Vb, and don't feel so bad for the blog. Vb blog is a failure anyway. Personally, I don't buy "in the next week or two" promises. I've learned my lessons from experiences. :o I am more like "I will believe it when I see it" kind of person. Vb has been having problems ever since their project leader Kier left as well as over half of former staffs quit. Then some "Ray" guy took over as a manager. With all the thread locking and screening going on, I kinda saw this coming but I didn't expect it to be executed so badly.

    IPB vs. vBulletin

I still have an active license of a Vb and I have to say that it's really chaotic in licensed customer forum right now at Vb. There is no way that I am going to renew my vb license in current status. I am not paying a dime to those backstabbing bastards at Vb. And so-called manager has vanished ever since the new pricing has been announced and left few support staffs to deal with the mess. What a day. FYI, I had two active Vb licenses. I moved one of my Vb license to IPB in May 2008 and still retain one active Vb license. There are huge differences in Vb3 and IPB3. But, to be bluntly honest, I never rely on mods because they are always unreliable. But if you do use lots of mods, I will say that Vb will be better for you. Though some of really important and much-needed Vb mod features are built right in IPB as official features. Oh, and IPB has an official CMS, Gallery, Downloads, and Blog (Which I am not so fond of.) as add-on.
  9. Oh, never noticed it until you mention it. I missed the Pro classic skin. Good to have it back.
  10. Since when it is wrong for a company to make profit? I am just wondering.
  11. Well, there you've stated it. The older license type has "added value" which you are not willing to let it go. To be honest, you can't have everything. Your older license has other values while the current one has its another (and unproven) values. Though I find that some people here are really overreacting to this. This sort of thing happens all the time with my cellular phone company and ISP.
  12. It's not even in the same market, and I am not willing to pay 279 dollars a month or even pay 899 dollars a month to have "better" SEO options.
  13. If I were a lifetime license holder, it would be a tough choice because converting would force me to spend a good amount of money per 6 months. If I were a perpetual license holder though, I'd rather convert to the standard license rather than having to pay extra fee for this unproven service. I would assume that the old(er) license holders will continue to be left out, and I wouldn't blame IP for taking such actions. Things ... don't remain the same forever. You can either choose to go with the flow or resist it (or abandon IP products all together).
  14. I see. This new feature is a "service" as the name states : Spam monitoring service. And a service like this involves a monthly cost. I would completely understand not providing this service to Lifetime license holders, but I feel that Perpetual license holders are in a gray zone. Still, it's not like this service is essential. Furthermore, we do not know how this new service is going to hold up against spammers.
  15. A might-be off topic question here, weren't those life time and perpetual licenses offered to convert to the current license type ?
  16. It has taken me 10 minutes to upgrade from 2.3.6 to 3.0 RC2. Then, it took a few days to get used to the new system and templates. From 3.0 RC2 to 3.0, it took less than a minute.
  17. Well, you guys are coming up with everything I had been asking from Vbulletin which they promptly refused. Good job.
  18. Currently, User validation and Admin validation are displayed together when I click "manage - Awaiting Validation" from ACP home. When I am tired or have just woken up, I sometimes make a mistake that I think I made it so that it is displaying Admin Validation only and click approve for all while reality was that it was displaying both user and admin validation. It is common for me to have over 50 validating users and it is painful to make such a mistake, so is it possible to not let "User validation" appear from approve page at all ?
