  1. Good feedback; thanks guys. I'll continue verifying each IP one at a time for now, and will also give that mod a try. :)
  2. If you have IPB set to make admins approve all new accounts, it would be helpful if there was an IP checker which displayed what country the IP is associated with. 99.999% of my real users are from the US. Anyone who comes in from China or Russia are almost always spam bots. I have to manually check each IP. Knowing the city/state/co would also help deal with trolls/banned members much easier. Oftentimes when you ban a member, he comes back under a new IP, different name; however the IP almost always is from the same city/st. Just a thought. If this can't be built into IPB, a mod would be great. Thanks for reading...
  3. Sure it is. Basic IM function can be accomplished; if it weren't possible or really was that much of a resource hog, Facebook wouldn't be using it. Just a suggestion guys, nothing else.
  4. Chatrooms can be resource intensive, but if there were a plugin Invision sold which allowed users to IM each other (similar to how Facebook works), I'd be willing to pay for it, and I'm not talking $5 either. :) Sure hope an IM plugin is created, if IM is not going to be part of IB3. That would totally set you guys way ahead of the competition. :D Thanks for all of the hard work, really looking forward to IB3.
  5. Our board is very active, so having an IM system would help cut down on some of the useless posts and PM's that fill up the db. It would have to be understood that if someone were to purchase the IM/Chat plugin, that it would be resource intensive. We would still be willing to purchase it, and even get a faster dedicated server. Our community is quite intense, as people use it to meet other members in their local areas. For us, it would make sense to buy it, and upgrade the server if necessary. Thanks for your consideration...
  6. I disagree. There are plenty of PHP based live chat options out there, and many of them work great. I'm sure the programmers at Invision are more than capable of doing this. Again, it can be an add-on, just like the gallery, blog, etc.
  7. I use flashchat right now, but sure would be nice to have something that Invision created. Would rather give them the money, as I know it'll work and be properly programmed with security in mind. Doesn't have to be part of v3, I would definitely pay extra for it. IMO it would be more useful than a blog.
  8. Would be really nice if there was a way to incorporate a chatroom into v3. I'm also interested in offering my members a way to establish a live IM session (outside of the chatroom), instead of always having to PM each other. For instance, they would click "IM" on their profile, and it would wait up to 3 min for the other party to accept. Even if these two features were considered add-ons, I would definitely pay for them. Please consider it...
